How to delete your data
Guardian's deletion is organization-level, not per-individual-user — deleting an organization removes that organization's data entirely, for every member.
- Sign in to Guardian.
- Go to Settings.
- Scroll to the Danger zone section and select Delete organization.
- Type your organization's name exactly to confirm — this deliberate friction exists so deletion can't happen by accident.
- Confirm the deletion.
You can go there directly now if you're signed in:
What actually happens when you delete
Deletion happens in two phases, and we want to describe both honestly rather than promise more than the system guarantees.
Phase 1 — your business data. The moment you confirm deletion, Guardian creates a permanent record that deletion was requested, then deletes your organization's row in our database. Every table scoped to your organization — transactions, counterparties, findings, correction patterns, activity history, Ask Guardian conversations — is removed automatically through database-level cascading deletion. This happens as one atomic operation: either your organization's data is fully removed, or (if something fails) nothing is removed and no deletion record is left behind implying otherwise.
Phase 2 — your uploaded evidence files. After your database records are gone, Guardian deletes your organization's uploaded documents and images from storage. This is verified, not assumed — Guardian re-checks that your organization's storage folder is genuinely empty before marking this phase complete. Your organization's core data (Phase 1) is already gone by this point regardless of how Phase 2 turns out.
An honest limitation
If Phase 2's storage cleanup cannot be verified as complete — for example, due to a transient failure — it is marked as needing to be completed later. There is currently no automatic retry for this. Your organization's database records are still fully deleted either way; what can occasionally lag is confirmation that every uploaded file has been removed from storage. We are not going to claim this is instantaneous or guaranteed in every case, because the system itself doesn't guarantee that — it guarantees that it verifies before claiming success, and reports honestly when it can't.
If you can't access your account
If you're unable to sign in — a lost account, a team member who left, or any other access issue — contact us directly at kaykiti21@gmail.com and we will process the deletion request manually. We'll need to verify you're authorized to request deletion for that organization before proceeding.
